Zirak Hamad Trio (Kurdistan)

Zirak Hamad is a violinist, drummer and singer from Iraqi Kurdistan. He was a graduate of the Institute of Fine Arts in Iraq, and has a wide range of artistic experience in his home country. Since coming to the UK in 2002 he has delivered Middle Eastern dance and music workshops, and performed with many artists, including the eclectic trio Village Well and gypsy/klezmer band Karaj.  He also formed Daholl Kurdish Band, an energetic blend of Kurdish and Middle Eastern, traditional and contemporary dance music.  Zirak also performs as a solo artist introducing audiences to a range of Middle Eastern music and drumming. This September we welcome Zirak back with a trio ensemble, involving Song, Violin, Daf and Santur. With guest artists, Darian Arif on Daf and Shako Baker on Santur.
