Culture Dub Orchestra are a World Roots Dub band based in the Midlands, with influences from parts of the globe. With dub firmly at the core; CDO explores a range of cultures, religions, backgrounds and musical styles. A heavy roots drum and bass section (crucial to the true dub sound) is coloured by a variety of instruments and sounds adding eastern flavours. Although at the core CDO are an instrumental band they will often feature guest vocalists from varied musical backgrounds.
Didier Kisala is the founder member of Birmingham based Congolese band The Redeemed, regulars to Celebrating Sanctuary events. He also performs with a smaller ensemble to create a beautiful and soulful performance. Didier was recently involved in a British Red Cross project, to release a ground-breaking concept album based on the real-life experiences of refugees and asylum seekers, in collaboration with artists such as Robert Plant and Scoobious Pip.
Afro Mio is a harmonious blend of rich vocals borne on a wave of rhythmic conga, melodious African guitar and kora. Charming, engaging and beautiful, this is music to enrich the soul. Founder member Ben Pathy, is a singer, author and composer from Angola, specialising in traditional African music, Rumba, Soukous, Kizomba and Salsa.
